This work is part of my series on the interaction of an object with its environment of light and air. To create the effect of maximum immersion in the environment, I used a long and laborious technique of openwork casting of porcelain slip, extruded through a rubber syringe with a fine tip. Each porcelain shade was created by coloring the porcelain with oxides of nickel, iron, copper and cobalt in specially selected proportions.
